Radiology

The Radiology Department at Asian Hospital and Medical Center is part of the hospital's Ancillary Services, committed to providing accurate, quality diagnostic imaging, and interventional radiology services to all patients. Composed of a team of dedicated professionals, the unit delivers timely and efficient radiology services across five specialized sections — General Radiology, Computed Tomography Scan (CT Scan), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology — with a clear institutional vision of becoming a leader in diagnostic imaging and interventional Radiology in the Asia Pacific.

General Radiology

The General Radiology section offers a range of X-ray based diagnostic imaging services. Radiography — the most established and widely used form of diagnostic imaging — produces images of the body's internal organs, bones, tissues, and blood vessels for the detection of injuries, infections, and other abnormalities through X-ray technologies. Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) measures bone density and calcium content to detect bone loss and screen for osteoporosis. BMD may also be used for pediatric screening of bone strength and development in children and adolescents. It is recommended for pediatric patients with growth concerns, chronic conditions, and nutritional risks affecting bone health. BMD is also ideal in differentiating a patient’s body composition by providing a detailed analysis on how much is muscle, fat, and bone. This is ideal for patients who are monitoring their fitness, weight management, and preventive health screening.

Fluoroscopy and C-arm mobile X-ray services are also available, using real-time imaging with optional contrast media to evaluate structural and functional abnormalities in the internal organs. The General Radiology unit is open 24/7 for inpatients and emergency patients, with outpatient services available Monday to Saturday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Computed Tomography Scan (CT Scan)

The CT Scan section is equipped with a 256 slice CT Scan and a 64-slice CT scanner that produces high-resolution cross-sectional images per rotation, delivering greater detail and accuracy than conventional X-ray. CT scan can be performed on any part of the body and is further supported by specialized services including angiogram for imaging of cardiac blood vessels, virtual colonoscopy for non-invasive detection of polyps and tumors in the large intestine, and stonogram for the detection of bladder and kidney stones. The CT Scan unit operates 24/7 for inpatients and emergency patients, with outpatient services available Monday to Saturday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Contrast-enhanced procedures are conducted on an appointment basis.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

The MRI Section has two 1.5 Tesla MRI machines. MRI uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves — without radiation — to produce detailed cross-sectional images of internal organs, soft tissues, the brain, spine, muscles, and bones. MRI angiogram services are also available for detailed assessment of blood vessel health and the diagnosis of coronary artery diseases. The MRI unit operates 24/7 for inpatients and emergency patients, with outpatient services available Monday to Saturday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Contrast-enhanced procedures are conducted on an appointment basis.

Ultrasound

The Ultrasound section uses high-frequency sound waves — without radiation — to produce real-time images of internal organs and soft tissues. Services cover a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations. Doppler ultrasound is available for the assessment of blood flow through the vessels. The Ultrasound unit operates Monday to Saturday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Interventional Radiology`

The Interventional Radiology section performs minimally invasive image-guided procedures using fluoroscopic X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound as real-time navigational tools during clinical interventions such as needle placements, catheter insertions, and biopsies. Ultrasound-guided biopsies, and CT scan-guided biopsies are performed on an appointment basis with the interventional radiologist assigned to the procedure.
