Patient Preparation Guidelines
1. Patient should have not undergone any contrast enhanced procedure, and / or radioactive procedure for the past fourteen (14) days. No calcium supplement intake for 24 hours before the procedure.
2. Bone Mineral Density (BMD) results cannot be accurately compared with previous results if different machines were used. For valid comparison and monitoring, the same BMD machine should be used for follow‑up scans
3. Procedure will take more or less 30 minutes.
4. If the patient needs great assistance in lying down and getting up from a lying state, the procedure may take up to 60 minutes.
REMINDER: If the patient is pediatric (18 years AND below), Please notify the Radiologic BMD Technologist first and indicate age on the scheduler. Must have bone age x-ray result prior the BMD and must have pubertal stage or Tanner stage indicated on the doctor’s request .
