Ultrasound-guided needle localization is a specialized breast imaging procedure used to identify and mark the precise location of a breast abnormality that may not be easily felt during a physical examination. Using real-time ultrasound imaging, a radiologist guides a thin needle or localization wire to the area of concern to help the surgeon accurately locate it during a subsequent surgical procedure.
