The Endoscopy Center at Asian Hospital and Medical Center is a dedicated medical facility equipped with high-technology endoscopy equipment and staffed by accredited gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and clinical assistants. It provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic care to patients of all ages, available on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.
The unit's services are organized into three categories. Minor endoscopy procedures include gastroscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, proctosigmoidoscopy, and rigid proctosigmoidoscopy — procedures used to examine and evaluate conditions along the entire gastrointestinal tract. Complex interventional procedures extend the unit's capabilities to include Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy insertion or replacement, endoscopic mucosal resection, esophageal metal stent insertion, self-expanding metallic stent insertion, achalasia balloon dilatation, flexible sigmoidoscopy with rubber band ligation, and intragastric balloon insertion. The unit additionally performs endoscopic ultrasound and endoanal ultrasound procedures for detailed imaging of the gastrointestinal tract, surrounding organs, and anorectal structures.
The unit's physical facilities include two procedure rooms, an endoscopy holding area, a recovery area, and a decontamination and clean room. For patients requiring procedures beyond the unit's scope, the hospital's Perioperative Services operating theatres are available.
