Program Overview
The Electrodiagnostic Technician Trainee Program is an intensive, comprehensive three-month hands-on training designed for hospital or laboratory personnel. Participants will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to operate an electrodiagnostic laboratory, perform nerve conduction velocity (NCV) and evoked potential (EP) studies, and interpret both normal and abnormal recordings. The program covers topics such as instrumentation, technical considerations, patient safety, nerve conduction techniques, evoked potential studies, and patient care.
Offered three times a year, the program prepares trainees to work as electrodiagnostic technicians. A Certificate of Completion is awarded to those who meet all course requirements. The program accepts a maximum of three trainees annually.

This program provides comprehensive training for Electromyography (EMG) technicians, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to:
Conduct EMG tests, nerve conduction studies, and related procedures
Contribute to accurate diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders
Ensure patient safety while adhering to technical and ethical standards
Trainees will also learn:
Instrumentation and equipment handling
Common and uncommon nerve conduction techniques
Engage in practical training, internships, and externships for real-world experience
Gain competence and confidence as EMG Technicians
Become eligible to pursue certification and a rewarding career in neurophysiological testing
The program is led by a distinguished team of experienced neurologists, skilled EMG technologists, and expert guest lecturers specializing in diverse areas of neurophysiology
Access to a well-equipped EMG laboratory
Library with relevant books and journals
Online resources to support learning
Competence in performing EMG and NCS tests
Ability to interpret results
Contribution to the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders in a clinical setting
At the end of the three-month program, trainees will be evaluated by the electrodiagnostic service to assess their knowledge and skills based on the training objectives
A practical examination will be given by an experienced neurologist/electromyographer technician
If the trainee does not meet the necessary requirements for successful completion, the electrodiagnostic service may extend the training by 1-3 months with additional fees
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of all program requirements
Trainees will be based at the Electrodiagnostic Laboratory of the Asian Brain Institute and report from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Saturday, excluding official holidays.
First Two Weeks: Orientation and observation of laboratory operations
Remaining Weeks: Daily hands-on training in performing NCV and EP studies
Participation in EMG-NCV anf EP reading sessions with residents and consultants
Trainees are expected to complete at least 100 nerve conduction studies and study topics including:
Anatomy and physiology of the peripheral nervous system
Instrumentation, equipment, and patient safety protocols
Techniques for nerve conduction and evoked potential studies
