Asian Hospital and Medical Center marked Pain Awareness Week with a lay forum titled “Kirot na Walang Sugat: Understanding Neuropathic Pain and Living Well with Chronic Pain,” held on September 8.
The forum brought together participants for an informative discussion on pain, with a focus on neuropathic pain and the challenges associated with living with chronic pain. The activity provided an opportunity for participants to better understand pain that may not always be visible but can significantly affect a person’s daily activities and quality of life.
Through expert discussions, the forum explored what neuropathic pain could feel like and how it could affect individuals in their everyday lives. Participants were also given an opportunity to ask questions, gain practical insights, and engage in meaningful conversations about pain management and care.
The activity highlighted the importance of recognizing pain and understanding its impact beyond physical discomfort. Greater awareness could help patients and their families better communicate their experiences and seek appropriate medical support when needed.
The forum also emphasized the value of compassionate and patient-centered approaches to pain care. By creating a space for learning and open discussion, the activity encouraged participants to become more informed about the different experiences associated with neuropathic and chronic pain.
The event brought together speakers, participants, and members of the community in a shared effort to promote greater awareness and understanding of pain.
Through the observance of Pain Awareness Week, Asian Hospital continued to support initiatives that encouraged meaningful conversations about pain and promoted better understanding as an important step toward better care and improved quality of life.
