Orthopedic Geriatric Center

The Orthopedic Geriatric Center addresses the full scope of musculoskeletal injuries and age-related bone conditions, with a particular focus on helping older adults stay strong, mobile, and independent. Orthopedic trauma — encompassing fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and soft tissue injuries to the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles — is among the most common and consequential health events in the aging population, often resulting from falls, accidents, or the cumulative effects of bone loss over time.

Care at the center begins well before an injury occurs. Through personalized bone assessments, fall-prevention programs, and therapies designed to improve balance and strength, the center works proactively to reduce fracture risk. The Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) is a cornerstone of this preventive approach, identifying patients at risk and connecting them with the right interventions before a serious injury takes place.

When injury does occur, the center brings a multidisciplinary team to bear — orthopedic surgeons, emergency physicians, anesthesiologist, trauma specialists, geriatrician, physical therapists, and rehabilitation specialists — all working in coordination to ensure prompt assessment, stabilization, and recovery. Treatment spans both surgical and non-surgical options, tailored to each patient's condition, age, and overall health. The overarching goal is the same whether the focus is prevention or recovery: to minimize complications, restore function, and help every patient return to an active and independent life.
