Procedure:

Left Heart Catheterization


Patient Preparation:

  • Your doctor may arrange tests you need to have to help you assess your case. These may include blood tests, an electrocardiogram (ECG), an exercise test, etc...
  • You may be admitted the day before the procedure, but most people are admitted in the same day. You may be asked not to have anything to eat or drink for six(6) to eight (8) hours prior to the procedure
  • Discuss medications, allergies, and any other issues with your doctor
  • When you are admitted , a doctor will explain the procedure to you, give you a brief physical examination, and answer any questions that you or your family may have. You will be asked to sign a form consenting to the test
  • You will be asked to remove any jewelry that you are wearing and put on a hospital gown. You will be shaved in the area where the catheter will be inserted. Sometimes you will be given a sedative about an hour before the test to help you relax


Schedule:

Monday to Friday

7:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Saturday

7:00 AM to 3:00 PM


(Sundays, holidays, and nights are open for Emergency Requests only)


Release of Results:

Same Day Release or  three (3) days maximum
