The department provides a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. Our team is composed of Physiatrists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and our support staff (Rehabilitation Aides and Administrative Assistants) who work together in providing quality treatments through use of therapeutic modalities, manual therapy techniques, exercises, and a conscientious analyses and remediation for rehabilitation conditions.

Asian Hospital’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine has a strong bench of 12 full-fledged Physiatrists who are trained in the country as well as internationally, all of whom are Board Certified by the Philippine Academy or Rehabilitation and Medicine (PARM).

Acceptance to the hospital requires a detailed credentialing process and orientation to ensure the quality patient care. Consultant performance evaluation is done on a regular basis to maintain the highest standards of care.

WHAT IS PHYSICAL THERAPY (PT)?

It is a health care profession concerned with helping people of all ages who have medical conditions, illnesses or injuries that limit their regular ability to move and function. It is concerned with identifying and maximizing quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation and rehabilitation.

It  is  the  only  profession  that  helps  people  across  the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Common occupational therapy interventions include helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, helping people recovering from injury to regain skills, and providing supports for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.

Home Care is a service that allows a patient with physical rehabilitation needs to stay in their home and still receive quality treatments from our Licensed Physical Therapists. This service caters to people who are chronically ill, recovering from surgery or any injury.

TELETHERAPY

Teletherapy of Telephysiotherapy allows you to experience all the benefits of Rehabilitation Medicine Services.(Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy) from the comfort of your own home setting; from relief of muscle or home pain, to regaining mobility, strength and balance for better movement during your daily tasks. With a live on-screen therapist, Teletherapy uses Asian Hospital’s online platform providing live interactive Rehabilitation sessions for your functional needs, bringing the services to your own smart device or computer.

ORTHOTIC FABRICATION

Orthotic Fabrication (commonly called Splinting) is creating an external, custom-made medical device that is used to support, align, prevent, or correct deformities of a body part. It can also be used to limit abnormal motions, and provide pressure relief, or aid in the initiation and performance of movement of joints of the body.
