EXPERTISE BUILT ON INNOVATION AND EXCELLENCE

With its firm goal of delivering excellent healthcare to neurology and neurosurgery patients, partnerships among multiple disciplines – medicine, nursing, allied health, social work, marketing and finance – are established in order to put together a truly interdisciplinary treatment approach aligned with internationally accepted standards and clinical guidelines.

Through the efforts of the Neurocritical Care and Primary Stroke Centers, Asian Hospital and Medical Center is proud to be an Acute Stroke and Thrombectomy-Ready Hospital. With a clear clinical pathway and qualified medical professionals trained in stroke care, the brain attack program ensures that appropriate and timely treatment are given to patients, especially those suffering from moderate to severe strokes. With the recent addition of the Thrombectomy service the window of acute stroke treatment was expanded beyond 4.5 hours, offering patients an even better opportunity for the best recovery.

REMARKABLE BREAKTHROUGHS

DEEP BRAIN STIMULATION

In January 2018, the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center introduced what is heralded as one of the most remarkable breakthroughs in the treatment of movement disorders, the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). DBS is a procedure that uses a surgically implanted, battery-operated device to precise areas in the brain that control movement. In the past year alone, six patients with advanced movement disorders underwent this procedure and were given the chance to re-claim their lives.

SUPPORT GROUP FOR PARKINSON'S

As part of its mission to deliver accessible world-class compassionate and integrative healthcare service to every individual, Asian Hospital and Medical Center’s Asian Brain Institute created SPARK, a support group for Parkinson’s Disease patients and their caregivers. The support group works to enhance the quality of life for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease through research, wellness, and support for those with the disease, their families, and the community.

FAMILY FORUM ON UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA

Sharing your loved one’s journey with Dementia means integrating the diagnosis together into your lives, adapting your routine, and supporting him or her as the disease progresses – essentially, establishing a partnership. Thus, the Brain Wellness Center of the Asian Brain Institute, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of the Philippines, conducted a Family Forum on Understanding Dementia where the discussion primarily focused on caring for a dementia patient.

EMERGENCY NEUROLOGICAL LIFE SUPPORT PLUS (ENLS+)

To further improve responses to neurological emergencies, Asian Hospital and Medical Center’s (AHMC) Asian Brain Institute and Department of Neurosciences launched the Emergency Neurological Life Support Plus (ENLS +)—the first in the world, live course and simulation-based education program adapted from the ENLS course of the Neurocritical Care Society (NCS). The first ENLS+’s success is just the beginning of more growth and improvement in the drive to advance and promote neurological health.
