Asian
Hospital to conduct symposium on breast cancer
Breast
cancer still remains a top health concern among women today. The
need to properly educate them about breast-related concerns still
poses a challenge to our medical professionals today.
Asian
Hospital and Medical Center joins the medical community in its continuous
effort to educate the public about breast concerns by conducting
a symposium on breast cancer dubbed “KEEPING aBREAST…
PART 3,” the third in the highly successful series to be held
on June 9, 2007, 1 to 5 p.m. at the 4th Floor training room of the
hospital.
Organized
by the hospital’s Department of Surgery, the symposium aims
to provide a venue for Filipinas where they can learn more about
breast cancer and breast-related concerns like breast mass and cysts,
and to know more about the latest treatment options available to
them.
The
symposium will feature medical experts from Asian Hospital who will
share updated studies on breast cancer treatment and surgery: Dr.
Orlando Diomampo, chairman of the Division of General and Cancer
Surgery; Dr. Grace Emilie Zara Santiago, breast surgeon; Dr. Gabriel
Natividad, surgical oncologist; and Dr. Aldine Basa, breast surgeon.
Among
the topics to be discussed are screening and diagnosis for breast
cancer, management of image-detected breast lesions, fibrocystic
disease, and breast conservation surgery. Participants will also
know more about treatment options such as modified radical mastectomy,
adjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and hormone therapy.
The
symposium will also feature breast cancer survivors among them a
movie celebrity, a breast conservation surgical patient and a practicing
doctor who will share with the audience their inspirational experiences
with their battle with breast cancer
Admission
to the symposium is free. For more information, call the Marketing
Department at 771-9000 to 02 local 8066 or 8073, or email at marketing@asianhospital.com.
