Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of neuro- or musculoskeletal (nerves, muscles, bones), and other disorders which produce temporary or permanent disability.

Our team is composed of physiatrists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Physiatrists are physicians who specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Physical therapists are trained professionals who perform and teach exercises and other physical activities to aid in rehabilitation and maximize physical ability with less pain. Occupational therapists are professionals trained to help maximize physical potential at home and in the workplace through use of assistive devices and lifestyle adaptations

In addition to the broad practice of medicine, our team uses physical agents such as heat, light, water, electricity, therapeutic exercise, and mechanical agents to treat patients.
