and Laboratory Service |
Microbiology
A comprehensive unit that cultivates, isolates, and accurately
identifies bacteria and fungi. It also performs antimicrobial
susceptibility testing according to accepted standards to
guide clinicians in prescribing the most appropriate antibiotic/s.
Anatomic Pathology
This section processes body tissue and fluids for gross,
cytologic and histologic (microscopic) examination and diagnosis.
It also provides special and immunohistochemical stains
as additional tools in diagnosis. Frozen section services
are offered for intra-operative diagnosis.
The Main Laboratory is located at the 3rd Floor and is open
24 hours daily. The outpatient services department is located
at the Lower Ground, Medical Office Building Radiology,
and is open Mondays thru Saturdays, 7am to 7pm. Beyond these
hours, outpatients may be accommodated at the Main Laboratory.
The reception areas in the Main Laboratory and Outpatient
Area serve as the central distribution unit that facilitates
the processing of incoming test specimens and requests as
well as the releasing of laboratory results.
Blood Bank
This section performs the necessary testing of blood donors
and patients to ensure safe blood transfusion. These tests
include blood typing, red cell antibody screening, infectious
diseases screening and cross-matching. The Blood Bank processes
blood into various components to meet the specific transfusion
needs of patients. It provides Apheresis service for specialized
collection of blood components, Therapeutic plasma exchange,
and Stem cell harvest.
