Pathology
and Laboratory Service |
The
Pathology and Laboratory Service provides state-of-the-art
laboratory diagnostics in an efficient and clinically effective
manner. Its dedicated and highly skilled laboratory staff
includes board-certified and US-trained pathologists.
The department is composed of the following sections:
Clinical Laboratory
Clinical Chemistry
A full service, fully automated unit which responds to all
requests relating to chemistry testing of blood, urine,
cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and other body fluids. It is
capable of performing rush (STAT) and high-volume testing
as well as maintaining point-of-care testing.
Hematology and Coagulation
A full service unit that performs routine and specialized
hematology procedures to assist in the management of blood
and coagulation disorders. These include automated and manual
cell counting and characterization, coagulation and platelet
function tests as well as preparation of bone marrow and
peripheral smears for evaluation.
Clinical Microscopy and Body
Fluids
A full service, well-equipped unit that conducts routine
microscopic and special procedures on urine, stool, CSF,
and other body fluids.
Immunology
A well-equipped, comprehensive unit that responds to all
requests requiring identification and quantification of
antigens or antibodies of infectious agents. Its capabilities
include determination of levels of specific proteins, therapeutic
drugs, tumor markers and hormones.
